Images only loading partially in public album view

Check it out, three out of seven pics didn't load correctly for the resized public album view, yet the full image is completely available.

I started by creating the new album. I drag-n-dropped all 7 images into the album at the same time. I re-arranged them, captioned them and then found out they weren't showing. Tried removing the pics from that folder, then re-adding them. Also tried re-ordering them. Didn't make any difference. This has been happening to me for some time now. Any ideas?

The scroll right and left function on the mouse is broken on imgur, it both scrolls through the page and loads the next image. Can you please change the functionality so that it only scrolls around the page.

I know that the changes that have been made recently were meant to improve the site and make it easier to navigate and such, but in my opinion it didn't work. The options for what pictures to view from when really limit what you're seeing and I dunno. I think the content has really gone downhill and Imgur is no longer the place that I used to love so much... I know that my own opinion doesn't count for much unless others agree with me, but I just wanted to make sure I at least voiced my opinion.

When i try to upload to imgur, my upload gets stuck at 99 percent and just says "uploading..." forever. Halp.

Issues with uploading have been fixed as of this morning. If you still have problems, try disabling add-ons.

Just want to say that Imgur is the best image host I have used in a long time, and as long as it stays the same I will stay with Imgur, I have had a pro account for a long time and will carry on using it, don't change like some bigger hosts do! :)

I could not locate an existing request which is strange. But Imgur should get a responsive design. I understand that you already have a mobile layout optimized for smartphones. But it would be nice to have a totally responsive layout that optimizes itself for the screen space available. 


I am on 2560x1600 resolution and even then I have to scroll down to see the images on one page in my backend. Would be nicer if Imgur adds one more column but removes the need to scroll down to check/select all the images on the page.

Just something small no big worry, I support this site because of my love/hate relationship with Reddit. So I tried to use it to save an image to link it to my Hotmail for a signature image, however after spending an hour or so attempting to get the image to work. I went to Imageshack and tried there, and bam 2 seconds later the image worked and I was on my way. I don't know what the difference between your site and theres was, but their image seemed to work and yours didn't. I just figured I'd tell you so that you at least knew this was an issue, but heck, it may have been just me messing something up along the way, thank you for your time, Aaron

We were having some site issues earlier today that may have affected uploading, so perhaps you arrived at an unlucky time? Everything seems to be  working normally at this time.

I've been having serious issues loading comments today, especially when the image is new. It initially shows one or two comments, as if the image is BRAND new, but then if I refresh the page a few times, suddenly a ton of comments show up and are time stamped anywhere from "11-17 minutes ago". As a follow up to that, my up- and down-votes are intermittently (and randomly) not saved when I change images, or sometimes when I reload. I don't know what's going on, but if there's a way to fix this, it would be great.

When I'm looking at pictures I haven't even seen yet, I see that some comments have been upvoted by me when it's clearly the first time seeing those comments.

user1 makes an acct, signs in, makes gallery. shares gallery link with user2.
example:
http://user1.imgur.com/monster_bins

when user2 views gallery, the "share this gallery" link is incomplete, and 404's
This is what user2 sees for the link:
http://imgur.com/monster_bins

and the page loads with 404

Imgur albums disable all keyboard shortcuts in Safari

Looking at an album that uses keyboard shortcuts for selecting between multiple images will completely disable default Safari shortcuts. For example, Cmd+W doesn't close the window, Cmd+Q doesn't quit, and backspace doesn't go back to the previous page. The mouse is required to do anything, which is extremely annoying.
This is using Safari version 5.0.3 (5533.19.4) on Mac OS X 10.5.8.

There is no maximum, but a regular account will only show 225 images.

Why is my image quality reduced?

When i try to upload a 2.13 MB image to Imgur, the quality is reduced. Is there a way to have Imgur retain the original image quality? Please explain how to do this, in detail. Thanks.

There are two types of compression for images: lossless and lossy. Lossless compression will reduce the file size without making any visible changes at all. It simply gets rid of unnecessary data that's causing the image to be bigger, but the image will look exactly the same. Lossy compression reduces the size of the image much more than lossless, but it can also change the appearance of the image.

Imgur uses both types of compressions. Every image that goes in is compressed by lossless compression because there's no reason not to. It reduces the size of the images with no downside. Lossy compression is only used when the image is above a certain file size (5MB for pro, 1MB for standard).


So, your image is mostly like experiencing lossy compression and therefore losing a the original quality. You can upgrade to a pro account to avoid this with images up to 5MB.

It usually takes about 30 minutes, but up to an hour sometimes depending on the traffic.

Several links to the same thing, and yes they all work (or at least the random one I sampled). Refreshing resolved it, but nonetheless it could be looked into. Probably just lag. I don't know.

I cannot seem to copy them without clicking on them. And Opera does not refresh the URL in the Address Bar on clicking on them. Linking the timestamps is generally the standard. Would be nice if this can be done.

It seems that the search feature searches for image titles only.  It'd be nice if there was an option to include search for text in comments.  Example:  Someone made a funny comment several weeks ago and I didn't comment or like the image so I can't refer back to it via my profile.  I'd like to search for the comment, and the comment along with the picture would show up.  Brilliant idea and not too hard to incorporate.  I should work for Imgur... :)

Lower Resolution Album Covers via API

 When getting the information about an album, only the high resolution cover image ID is made available. I'm using this as a 100x100 thumbnail for the album and it's sucking up unnecessary bandwidth and taking a while to load. Would love to the different links for the different cover sizes.

I no longer have a FB account and would like to unlink it to my Imgur account.  I don't see any options to add or remove outside accounts in the account settings on Imgur.  I'd also like to change my email as I rarely use the one associated with Imgur (due to it having been tied to my FB as well).  Please add more options in account settings to make it easier.  Thanks.

Facebook (and other sites) rely on the image_src link when generating the "share" preview thumbnails on sites that use Javascript to load images.  This link must be an image to work properly.  It works great when you share an image page, e.g. http://imgur.com/GwQyN, the image_src link is http://i.imgur.com/GwQyN.jpg.  But on albums, say http://imgur.com/a/2GujB, the image_src link points incorrectly to http://imgur.com/GwQyN which is HTML.  It would be great if this could be fixed so that album previews show up with thumbnails!

It looks like there are 5 images in this album. If you'd like the album to be setup differently, you can change album settings and choose the layout you like

Problems with hiding/deleting some isolate images

I have a few images (like 4 out of 600) I for some reason can't delete or hide. Imgur just gives me an "There was a error. Please try again." -message and these few images are stuck on my account for what seems to be forever. The problem doesn't disappear on different browsers etc. Why? A bug?

I really like Imgur for its ease of sharing, because it's great for getting exposure to my work. However, there's no way to link my images to my personal site. Is there a way to do this that I'm missing, or are there plans to add this features?

No, we don't have that feature. You can include the URL in an image or album description, but it won't link.

Favorites as an album

With the call for labels and sorting for favorites, I thought it might work better with an "add to album" link, and a default album called favorites. So you could have several albums, which are links to images Like how you can have several wish lists on Amazon:
  • Organise favorites into albums
  • Implemented correctly, it wouldn't require extra storage space on Imgur's servers
  • Could be easier to repost (if you swing that way) and keep track of reposts

We really hate running around with our hair on fire, and eventually we have to upgrade our servers. This just happens to be the time when traffic is at it's (the possessive form of "it" is "its" - no apostrophe) lowest, so it's the best time to do maintenance like this. Please be patient while we get things working again. We will be back soon with more capacity.

 Ctrl-Clicking on the Browse button makes

  1. a new tab appear with the browse page (that's fine)
  2. the current tab load the browse page as well (that's not cool)

Also it's not cool you don't even display the comments without javascript, but I guess that's your choice / depending on your cdn. (the nine ad/tracking services you're embedding aren't great either, but I can handle that...)

Everytime I come on here the site is down for maintenance. I have only gotten in once and I like it, but its a bit ridiculous that I havent been able to get in again...
