scroll wheel in pop-out gallery

In the pop-out gallery view I noticed I could use the scroll wheel on my mouse, but scrolling both up and down have the function of forward/next image. Perhaps you could change one of the scroll directions to back/previous image?

On albums with a lot of images it is truly obnoxious to be forced to click on every single thumbnail.

Each image usually had source link along with the time it was submitted,

views, bandwidth and embed codes.

Is it on purpose not having a source link?

for some reason the 'prev' or 'next' buttons do nothing. This is with FF, Chrome and even IE9. It also does not work on my phone. Is this happening with everyone or just me?

Try disabling add-ons/extensions. If that doesn't work, try changing your DNS to Google's Public DNS or Open DNS.

PNG files are never optimized by Imgur during uploads. Today, even the JPEGs are being uploaded in full size even though I have not changed the setting.

Rename the "Hide" feature

The feature says it permanently hides a picture from an account, however it doesn't explain that doing so means losing full control of the picture.  I understand that the feature has its uses, but it's kind of misleading and isn't reversible, which can cause some problems for people who don't understand it yet, so I feel a different name would be appropriate.

You upload an image to your account, you publish it in your blog, after some minutes, search it in Google, try the Instant Preview and you will only see the Alt text displayed (in the small preview)

A lot of users on our forum use imgur to post images. We check for missing images to clean up broken links, but imgur returns a status code 200 when an image is not found. It would be great if you could return the proper 404 status code (and afaik it's necessary to comply with the HTTP protocol).

I notice that lately imgur has become over capacity for most of the day. I can attribute a bit of this to the system thingy that you have to gather the most popular pictures, and the plethora of fellow imgurians. But I feel that spam robots are taking up too much of the servers.

Can you possibly throw in an update that would automatically boot the user from the servers and ban the IP address? 

A theoretical solution:
server is told to boot users if rank hits -100

This solution would be easily patrolled by the imgur community. I do believe that there is little room for abuse due to the fact that most of imgur is very respectable (a bit warped, but respectable)...

The best thing you can do is to report the spam caption using the "report" link that comes up when you hover over the caption. We get alerts if the caption has been reported enough times and we are able to ban spammers that way. The downvoting idea is not feasible because normal bad captions (not from spammers) would have the potential to be downvoted to -100 as well. 

Don't worry, the spammers have nothing to do with the overcapacity issue :)

I would think the best way to design the user experience would be to have the image pop-up in a preview window when the mouse cursor hovers over the thumbnail (similar to the way eBay image preview works). Otherwise, the thumbnails are too small for me to distinguish which image I want to select. I can barely even see the content of the image in the thumbnail.

Is this something that's normal, or is there something wrong with my browser preventing this pop-up image preview.?

Pretty much what the headline says. My account will expire in about 1 month. I'd like to extend it now before I forget it and lose all my galleries. All I can find though is the option to end my subscription.

When coming across NSFW or rule breaking posts, the only way to report it is to click on it to go to its gallery page, and then hit the report button at the bottom of the gallery. This means that if someone wants to report a submission as NSFW, from their home/workplace, that they have to open the NSFW images as fullscreen images rather than just discreet thumbnails in order to report it. This is made worse when the poster submits a full album of objectionable content, and the user must scroll through endless pages of fullscreen NSFW images to reach the report button at the bottom of it all.

It would be nice to be able to report an image from its thumbnail on the main page.

Why do only some peoples albums have embedded codes?

I am curious why only certain albums have multiple embedded codes for them  and some only have the html embedded code?


For instance, if I wish to present my whole album on a forum, I cant because I have no BBcode for my albums, only images have them.


Am I missing something here?

Yo, maybe you shouldn't make your sidebar floating because it makes the ad not fully visible. It's only shown in half because my screen isn't tall (768px). Or maybe place the ad on top. If you did it on purpose it's good yo because I don't like seeing the ad hehe, but I don't use ad blocker because I know you guys get money from ads. Sorry for my bad english yo i hope you understand what I mean.

Can you please make it so the links on the header, (albums, images, gallery, etc.) stay in the same places.  They go wider or narrower depending on which screen you're on (look at their differences between this screen: http://imgur.com/ and this screen: http://imgur.com/gallery).  It's just annoying.  Thanks!

I couldn't find a way to report users from the profile page so I hope this is the place to do it. I apoligize for putting it in "bugs" but I don't know which section would be more appropriate.


Guest364116 has been posting non stop spam on a lot of images. I've reported a lot of the images and they've been removed but I think the entire user needs to be removed, if that is possible.

Album organization using tags

Hi, I'm wondering if there are any plans of implementing a tag system for use in albums. I see you have implemented one for random images but that's not quite the same. The idea is similar to how steams tagging system works. For instance:

You would have a dictionary with all your used tags which you could use again (this is to eliminate spelling tags incorrectly and inadvertently creating two separate similar tags AND to see what tags are available).

You could then add tags to the dictionary which you could apply to images in the album. Preferably you would be able to add multiple tags to a single image.

The whole point of this is to be able to quickly find what you are looking for in a big album searching on these tags. Personally I have quite a large album (1500 images) and it's getting a bit cumbersome to manage. I would love for this feature to be implemented since it would save me (and I imagine at least a few others) a lot of time.

Since this new feature was put in, the community as a whole seems to be exploding in rage. Of course keep the popularity/virality section as it has been. but simple sections like cute animals, animated gifs, facebook reposts, OC uploads, sad comics, funny comics, political bs, etc. would help out by allowing users interested in that content to be exposed to it, limiting the downvotes all around and encouraging an imgurian userbase that doesn't hate each other to form.
