Too many boring new images

Jessica Marlow fa 12 anys updated by Sarah fa 12 anys 1

Just wanted to say that I've been using imgur almost every single day for over a year now, and I incredibly enjoy your website. However, since the new gallery update there are so many new images flooding in, and the overall quality in terms of cuteness/funnyness/interesting-ness has gone down incredibly. I know it's a fine line between having lots of photos and having high quality photos, but the new update is way past that line. I've literally never been so bored browsing the gallery than just now, because that's exactly just it, now you have to browse the gallery to find a gem, instead of the majority of the images being gems. Please cut back on the influx of images, it's turning imgur into 9gag.

I think a lot of what you're mentioning can be solved by tinkering with the sorting options. The "old" gallery is still there exactly as it was before. Images are still imported based on their virality. The only difference is that we are not calling those new anymore. They are automatically hot, so to access them you can sort hottest by time.

We don't expect that everyone will want to take on the task for finding the good new content on the new section. Most people will likely stick to the hot section (aka the old gallery) and things will progress as normal. We do expect, however, that the community vibe that we all love will actually become more tight-knit because we are commenting and up voting one another's images rather than those of strangers. That way when images make it from new to hot, we can comment and actually interact with OP.

TL;DR the new content is not all supposed to be good. It's up to the community to vote and decide. If you don't want to, you can stick to hottest for the old experience.

Thank you for the feedback. I will try tinkering with the hot option.
