I can't uplaod URLs to imgur.

elustran 14 years ago updated by Alan Schaaf (Founder) 14 years ago 0
I click on web, paste in a URL, and nothing happens - no upload button shows up or anything else. I can still upload from my computer easily enough.

There are two buttons -- "Done" and "Upload. "Done" is in the bottom left and "Upload" is in the bottom right. You don't need to paste the link for them to appear, so I'm not sure why you're not seeing them...

Next button of picture jumps to first picture in stream, not to next picture in time

Stefan Gojan 11 years ago 0
Steps:
- Browse to http://imgur.com/r/unixporn
- select a picture from the first page, e.g. http://imgur.com/r/unixporn/gGo4PZ9
- you see in the right box the correct next picture (the picture before this one was submitted)
- all working

- Browse to http://imgur.com/r/unixporn
- select a picture from page 3, e.g. http://imgur.com/r/unixporn/DkdGj8X
- you see in the right box the first picture of the stream
- fail :(

Cant load pictures what do?

Ryan 13 years ago updated by Alan Schaaf (Founder) 13 years ago 0

Pictures just plain don't load, everything else does fine, just not the images. Using ffox 4 and vista. I have tried in other browsers, still nothing and when clicking a direct link to an image it wont work either. I have even tried on a different computer and still nothing loads.

It sounds like your computer is having a hard time resolving the i.imgur.com domain. Can you try changing your DNS settings to use either Google's Public DNS, or Open DNS? More information on that can be found here: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ and https://store.opendns.com/get/basic

upload queue button not working

Mark Lowry 13 years ago updated by Alan Schaaf (Founder) 13 years ago 1

When I go to my images page the upload button wont appear, it remains as the spinning "waiting to load" icon. clicking on it doesn't seem to do anything either. I upgraded to pro, still no luck.

I'd be glad to help you out with this -- it should definitely be working. What browser (and version) are you using? Have you tried using other browsers, or disabling addons?

Also, make sure you have Adobe Flash installed and working correctly.

site optimization

scott parker 13 years ago updated by Sarah 13 years ago 0
Would it be a move in the right direction if you were to add options on the site for a second page included in the imgur site located on the homepage. This page would mimic the choice for choosing between english and french when you arrive at a site, but for imgur the option that I am proposing would be to have a choice to choose between "imguy" and "imgurl" depending on what gender you are when you enter the site. The choice is optional of course for the people who do not want to enter a specific genre of the site but the option will be there. This option on the site is possibly a good idea since it is optional and isnt forced on the site viewer and gives the choice to them. Email me back with thoughts on this idea as I think it could be a good addition to the site.

Image description autocorrect?

Boon Siang Ng 13 years ago updated by Sarah 13 years ago 1
I have been trying to correct image description but somehow imgur keep on "autocorrect" it to something else.
The description I wanted to put in:
"DiskMark interface on Outdated Penang Uncle blogspot dot com"
But imgur "autocorrect" it to:
"DiskMark interface on Oudated Penang Uncle blogspot dot com"
Not only on one images, but all of them in this album:

Sorry, we don't autocorrect, so I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Uploaded images showing up very small when direct linking in Chrome

Jack Thomas 13 years ago updated by Susanna Moore 11 years ago 3
After uploading an image and looking at the direct link, the image will resize to various small sizes which are clearly smaller than the original image. Sometimes it even fluctuates the size if you refresh. I'm using the latest version of Chrome on OS X.

It sounds like the zoom in your browser is zoomed in too far. Go to your browser settings and set the zoom back to 100%.

Reply Issue

James Vellas 12 years ago updated by Sarah 12 years ago 0

I loaded a page and started reading comments. I found one to which I wanted to reply and wrote out my response. Upon hitting "save," the page hung. I was able to figure out that this was because the person to whom I was replying had deleted his comment in the meantime. Fair enough, but it turns out that my comment still wound up getting posted. Instead of appearing as a reply, however, it appeared on the top level as if it were a comment submitted directly in response to the picture. Seems like the comment should just be rejected in that case rather than posted to the top level with no context to make sense of it.

Build the community by adding achievements/trophies/ribbons etc. for completing certain tasks

Chris Phillips 13 years ago updated by Sarah 13 years ago 1
I think a great way to build the imgur community would be to add badges or buttons etc. to user profiles, awarded when users complete certain tasks.

I thought of a few examples:
Newbie - uploaded your first image to imgur
Whack-a-Mole - downvoted ten 1 vote posts to 0
Butterfly Effect - Upvoted a 0 vote post to 1, which then went on to get over 1000 upvotes
Curator - Upvoted a hundred images
Philanthropist - Upvoted a hundred comments
Downvote Fairy - Downvoted a hundred comments
Forever Alone - Maintained negative reputation for a week

...the list could go on. Each badge would have a little icon and would be displayed on your user profile once awarded.

Sorry if this is a bit outside of scope for Imgur, and I also realise this would have performance implications on the server farm, but it just occured to me while I was thinking about user rep. I think it would encourage people to get positively involved more and would give other users a quick idea of what you're like from looking at your profile.

Like the description from THIS reddit post says, I'm experiencing trouble while rehosting. My pictures are automaticly zoomed in in the new tab, and although showing the minus magnifier glass, it doesn't work. The reddit post is about Chrome, but I'm experiencing it solely while using imgur rehosts. Im using Win7 and imgur addon for Chrome. Thanks.
