I have a pretty busy website and i use IMGUR every day for some of my thumbnails or big pictures. I want to just thank the whole IMGUR team behind it and all the work they put in to it and keeping the servers up and running. You guys deserve a hell of a lot donations, and keep up the great work! Also Sarah that does the gr8 support.

i.imgur.com links not loading

Keko 12 years ago updated by Gerry Boyd 10 years ago 6

This morning when I came into work, I noticed i.imgur.com links do not load. If I go to imgur.com the page loads, but there are no pictures. It was working fine yesterday.

This is what it looks like: http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/8646/screenshot2011100423232.png

I have tried the following:

-Hosts file entries, nothing seems to work

-Imgur -> Filmot script - script failed referencing 'document'

-Ingur -> Filmot Chrome Addon, only works on the first page of RES, then stops

-Switching to Google's DNS, no effect

-Changing IP's

I can ping i.imgur.com. All browsers on my machine are affected. Other machines on my network are unaffected, so I know it is not blocked for us. Does anyone have any advice? This is maddening.

If I try to load an i.imgur.com link all I get is a blank white page and the tab says "qus4p.png (1x1)"

Was working perfectly fine yesterday. My network does not have i.imgur.com blocked, any other machine can access it.

need a button to get thumbnails.

Caloonese 14 years ago updated 13 years ago 0
In the gallery page, one can click the <<Prev and Next>> button to get the next picture, or click on one of the 6 thumbnails to skip over pictures that have been seen already.

However, if all 6 thumbnail has been seen before, the only way to skip forward is to click on the 6th thumbnail. It would be nice to add another button to roll in another 6 thumbnail without needing to load the big picture unnecessarily.

Watermarks

Maciek 13 years ago updated by Sarah 12 years ago 1
Please consider adding a watermarking function. Idea is simple, user could use a text-watermark (with an opacity, font and color control) or watermark image in png format (with an alpha transparency) and chose its position (like four corners of the image). I'm pretty sure many PRO users would love this option.

Too many boring new images

Jessica Marlow 12 years ago updated by Sarah 12 years ago 1

Just wanted to say that I've been using imgur almost every single day for over a year now, and I incredibly enjoy your website. However, since the new gallery update there are so many new images flooding in, and the overall quality in terms of cuteness/funnyness/interesting-ness has gone down incredibly. I know it's a fine line between having lots of photos and having high quality photos, but the new update is way past that line. I've literally never been so bored browsing the gallery than just now, because that's exactly just it, now you have to browse the gallery to find a gem, instead of the majority of the images being gems. Please cut back on the influx of images, it's turning imgur into 9gag.

I think a lot of what you're mentioning can be solved by tinkering with the sorting options. The "old" gallery is still there exactly as it was before. Images are still imported based on their virality. The only difference is that we are not calling those new anymore. They are automatically hot, so to access them you can sort hottest by time.

We don't expect that everyone will want to take on the task for finding the good new content on the new section. Most people will likely stick to the hot section (aka the old gallery) and things will progress as normal. We do expect, however, that the community vibe that we all love will actually become more tight-knit because we are commenting and up voting one another's images rather than those of strangers. That way when images make it from new to hot, we can comment and actually interact with OP.

TL;DR the new content is not all supposed to be good. It's up to the community to vote and decide. If you don't want to, you can stick to hottest for the old experience.

Have to click "back" twice in FF

Tomas Vera 12 years ago 0
every time I go to your site via a link on Reddit.com, I need to click the "back" button twice to return to the Reddit site. Is there anything that I can set/do so that I can go back to Reddit using a single "Back" click?

i.imgur.com does not load

Anything that's linked to imgur.com's pictures won't load unless i type in img.imgur.com. imgur's main site loads, but none of the pictures or thumbnails

We're not aware of any problems with serving images, but it sounds like your computer is having a hard time resolving the i.imgur.com<http://i.imgur.com/> domain. Can you try changing your DNS settings to use either Google's Public DNS or Open DNS? More information on that can be found here: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ and https://store.opendns.com/get/basic

Imgur links not working

john smith 14 years ago updated by Alan Schaaf (Founder) 13 years ago 4
So no matter what browser i use(Firefox, Chome, IE) imgur picture links do not work at all. I get the "Firefox can't find the server at i.imgur.com." or similar message. The site itself works fine, just the pictures do not.

Resetting router does not work, not really sure what else to do.

new picture comments

dave k 13 years ago updated by Sarah 13 years ago 0
i would like to see a section labeled new comments that would get top billing for say a half hour then get sorted into there place by upvote count. this way people that comment on a picture with a lot of comments already get there comments seen and not automatically sent to the bottom most likely never to be seen except by a few dedicated people that read every comment
